But in 1998, and with no children left at home, we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind in pursuit of a more relaxing lifestyle. And we had a list of needs for a town to settle in. It needed good medical and hospital services, a good choice of supermarkets and other speciality stores, great places to eat and access to professional services like tradespeople, mechanics and accounting. Most importantly, it had to be within 90 minutes of Melbourne’s CBD by rail and an hour away from the airport to accommodate my work at The University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology at the Ear and Eye hospital, which included regular overseas travel. We looked at the Bellarine Peninsula, Ballarat and then Bendigo, but they just weren’t right for us. Finally, we came across Seymour ... and it ticked all our boxes, so we sold the family home in Balwyn and made the move down the highway. When we first moved to Seymour, we didn’t know anyone, but we quickly settled in. I joined the Lions Club, and my husband joined Rotary. We easily made friends and became part of this great community which has so much to offer. We’ve lived in Seymour for 20 years now, and we’ve never looked back!” — Jill, Semi-Retired Ophthalmologist Think Lifestyle. Think Seymour. High Voltage Studio http://www.highvoltage.studio
